Cliveden Pagoda

Cliveden Pagoda

The Pagoda which sits in the water garden at Cliveden House  was redecorated to a scheme from the early 1900's, believed to have been applied shortly after the Pagoda's arrival in the gardens.

The scheme involved designing and painting the polychrome and gilded decoration running under the roof edges, painting trompe l'oeil fluting on the columns and gilding and glazing the balusters, handrails, lantern and the sea monster which sits on the roof finial.
