Leicester Cathedral Dais

Stone blocking of the newly built dais

The image above shows the completed stone blocked dais.

A new larger reshaped dais was built in front of the choir screen at Leicester Cathedral and we were asked to paint the plywood to imitate stone slabs. The colour and type of stone painted was to sit with the existing stone slabs in the cathedral and needed to harmonise with the colour vestments worn by the clergy at the different service.

Artists acrylics were used for this work and when completed it was given two coats of an acrylic floor varnish.

A newly built altar was also painted to imitate the same stone with recessed small carved crosses on the altar top.
