Recreation of 17th Century Wall Painting - Detail

A fragment of an original wallpainting above the door was uncovered on redecoration. This showed part of two repeats. There were also some other remaining fragments which allowed us to reconstruct the complete design. The reconstruction was painted using pigments which could have been used in the original wallpainting.

The bottom picture shows part of the original painting from 1620, the left hand side of the blue repeat and the top border above it. On the right hand side one can see the recreated portion of the blue repeat.
