Restoration of the painted scheme in the apse
The stencilled decoration in the apse of St Peter’s church had deteriorated badly through water ingress. We were asked to recreate all missing areas of paint after the scheme had been conserved by the Perry Lithgow Partnership.
There was just enough of the original repeating pattern to trace the designs and cut new stencils. All colours were mixed to match the varying aged colours of the background and the stencilled designs. Colours were applied only to areas of missing paint and were blended to match the surrounding colours and textures.
